In a land that people had forgotten, there were two pillars of stone. Nobody knew anymore why they were there, nor did they know what they did. People had legends, warning, rumors….. but no facts. Over time, talk of this land became only legend, and eventually, forgotten entirely. Enter the 21st century. Mankind is reaching for new heights, and abandoning old prejudices. The moon, and mars were soon colonized, and the problems of the past were quickly becoming memory.

Nick was busy researching ancient cultures and peoples for his history class. Nick had decided to go out with a bang this year, so was digging deep for a really old, and little known about culture. Nick had settled on investigating a rumor about some ancient village living on an island in the pacific ocean. Everyone knew that even today, not all of earth had been explored. Nick had painstakingly collected as much information about the site as there was in the schools data bases, and now was at a crossroads. If he wanted to go any further into this report, he’d have to actually go to the area, and see if there really was a village. He asked the dean for permission, and funding, and was surprised by the deans enthusiasm. “go for it!” the dean had said, so Nick quickly packed his gear, and went to the nearest shuttle platform.
The closest Nick could get to the island, was Hawaii. He’d then have to charter a boat going that way, or rent one for himself. He settled on option 2, and took himself out to the island, out in the middle of nowhere. It was a nicely sized island, several miles in diameter, and surrounded by mountains. Nick parked the boat on the beach, and securely tied it up to a tree. The hike up the beach, and through the forest took most of the day, but nick finally came across a nice campsite. His tent was nice and big, and easy to setup, so after a hot meal, he crawled inside, and was quickly asleep.

Morning came, and nick made himself some breakfast. The forest was rich, and full of life. There were deer, and birds everywhere, and they did not seem to care that a human was around. Nick took some notes about the area, and the creatures within. “This is gonna be the best report ever!” After breaking camp, nick set off towards the center of the island. Eventually, the trees broke away, revealing a wide valley. Said valley was surrounded on all sides by mountains, except the small gap that nick came through. Towards the east, nick thought he saw what looked like fields of grain, so he decided to take a look. Indeed the fields were grain, and they were in neat little squares. Sure sign of a past civilization nick thought. After he took some pictures of the site, he went around the area, to see if there were any more signs. There were some ruins of old buildings up on a hill, and what looked like a carving in the rock on the other side of the valley. The buildings were just wood huts, and they were in ok shape. Nick took a few dozen pictures of them, and decided to hike off to the rock carving.

The closer nick came to the carvings, the less they looked like carvings. They were actually two twin stone pillars. They were covered in markings, like runes. Nick could not make them out, so he started to compare them to any ancient languages in his books. The runes resembled some ancient druidic writings, so nick tried to translate. What he got was a jumble of words, that made no sense. Nick made several trips back and forth from the pillars of stone, to the village, trying to find any clue to what the runes said. After an exhausting day of trekking back and forth, nick set up camp near the pillars.

During the night, while nick was sleeping, a hooded figure emerged from the other side of the stone pillars, and calmly walked over to nicks tent. The hooded figure looked into the tent for a while, then investigated nicks findings. He seemed to think about them for a while, before placing a scroll on the ground, and leaving the area. Nick woke up the next morning, and made some breakfast. He noticed the scroll on the ground after he had something to eat, and eagerly began to read it. It was in English! It said: “human, you are on forbidden ground. Unless you truly want to know the secrets buried here, the leave this place.” Nick was instantly more interested in the site. Screw going home! Nick thought, This is so cool! Nick resumed investigating his findings with haste. Somewhere far distant, a hooded figure chuckled with glee. Days later, nick had made out parts of the writings written on the pillars. Apparently, this was a place of worship for the ancient peoples of this land. They worshiped something called the sky serpent, but the description was not very clear. That was about all Nick got out of the translations. There were some pictures near the top of the pillar, but Nick could not see them from the ground. Nick decided to go see if there was a ladder, or some rope on his boat to climb up the pillars. Before he left the valley, a fierce storm kicked up. Nick was forced to retreat to his campsite, and did so with haste before any of his research materials were damaged. By the time Nick got back to the site, the storm had quit, and his campsite was dry. Nick figured that is must have been a freak storm, and put it out of his mind. Nick tried to climb up the pillars to see what the pictures were. Climbing up the pillars proved imposable, but Nick kept on trying. Nick tried to crab walk up the pillars, by wedging himself between the two, and forcing himself up. This was working, but his shoes kept on slipping. Nick soon found himself flat on his ass. After rubbing his aching tailbone, nick removed his shoes, and socks, and tried it again. It proved easier than the last time, and nick eventually got up to the pictures. There were 4 pictures on each pillar. All lined up. The 1st pillar had what looked like a human touching the pillar, followed by some druids or something praying around him. The next 2 pictures showed the human turning into a dragon! This was incredible! Never had he seen anything like it! He looked over at the other pillar, an saw another set of similar pictures. The next set showed the new dragon bowing to the druids, followed by it placing both paws on the pillars tops. The following 2 carvings showed the dragon getting larger, and larger. Nick took some pictures of the carvings, and descended the pillars. When he returned to the ground, there was a hooded figure waiting for him. “Who are you?” nick asked. “I am the last keeper of this island. I have been waiting for decades for another to arrive, and partake in the ceremony. We were here to make sure that there was always a sky serpent. There has not been one for many centuries. Once you become the new sky serpent, my task will be complete.” Nick thought about what the figure was saying, and came to a conclusion. “Are you talking about the ceremony shown on the pillars? You mean you would turn me into a dragon?” Nick had always liked dragons, and was always curious. This time, his curiosity was outweighing rational thought. “Yes human, you will be the next sky serpent… now be ready. The ceremony begins tonight.”

Nick could not wait for the evening to come, he was so excited, that he forgot to consider his life. There was his schooling to consider, and his dorm room, and his stuff! Ah well…. Nick thought…. I can make this up as I go along. Evening finally came, and Nick found the hooded figure praying at the pillars. Nick walked calmly up to the towers of stone, and gave them a pat. As he touched the stone, Nick felt very strange. It was as if there was a low grade electric field running through the stone. Nick placed his hand back on the stone, and the feeling increased. Nick began to shake, and feel tingly all over. The change came very quickly. He fell onto all fours, and his hands and feet became taloned paws. His neck stretched out, and his head lengthened onto a savage looking maw. His useless flat teeth popped out of his head, rapidly being replaced by sharp fangs. A vicious looking tail popped out of his back, and powerful wings emerged from his shoulders. Nick bulked up all over, becoming very muscular. Scales began to appear all over, as well as frills, and horns. Soon, it was over. In the place of nick, a 10ft long blue dragon took shape. Nick growled with pleasure as he looked over his new form. It felt wonderful! The raw power, and new capabilities! The hooded man had fallen over during the process, to nick padded over to investigate. The man was dead. Nick figured that this must have taken a lot out of him, so he dug a hole in the ground, and buried the druid. Nick was about to leave the area, when he remembered the rest of the pictures on the pillars. He was now supposed to put both paws on top of the pillars, and get larger. This proved to be difficult, as he could barely reach halfway up the sides of the towers. Nick decided to use his new form to climb up the sides like he did last time, and it proved effective. Eventually, he got to the top, and strained to place both paws on either pillar. He managed to place a paw on one, and a claw tip on the other, but that was enough. A new wave of energy flowed through his body, and he began to enlarge. He felt wonderful as he gained size and mass, and was soon able to sit on the ground, and place both paws on the pillar tops properly. The feeling of raw power coursing into his body was almost orgasmic. Nick could not help but purr as he got larger and larger. Eventually, he got so big, that he had to lean forward to keep his paws on the pillar tops. Nick did not know if he was supposed to stop anytime soon, and he did not care. All that mattered to him was getting bigger. And bigger he did get, in fact, he soon almost filled the valley. Nick suddenly realized that his tail was touching the mountains, and his head was over the ocean. “I think I over did it.” Nick shrugged, and resumed holding the pillars, not wanting to abandon the feel of growth.

The desk jockeys at the pentagon were having a field day with the satellite photo’s coming in of the giant dragon appearing on an uncharted island. What was really sending them all into orbit, was how the creature seemed to be getting larger by the minute. The terran air force was sent out to investigate. What they found was a 10mile long, 4 mile tall blue dragon barely fitting on a small island. The massive beast turned its head as it saw them coming, and said hello. The aerojocks did not know what to do with this unexpected situation, and radioed into base. “What do you mean its being friendly? Blow it away!” The commander at the base was obviously angry or scared. “But sir, its not doing anything. Except getting even larger…” Nick suddenly noticed that he was not getting any bigger, and figured that he musta drained all the energy from the stones. “excuse me people” nick called to the planes. “But I have to get going, I have to prepare a report for my history class.” The aerojocks seemed dumfounded by this, and just sat there as nick spread his massive wings, and flew off into the distance. Nick arrived back at the campus later that day, and decided that he should give an oral report to his class, seeing as he could not work a computer. It took a while to stop everyone from fleeing in a mass panic, but eventually he got everyone to hold still. He let them all know who he was, and began his presentation. They seemed to believe his story, seeing as he was kinda living proof… Nick got an “A” on his history course, and soon found himself surrounded by lab-rats who wanted to find out just what he was. Nick suddenly realized that he could control his size, and shrank himself down to a comphie 15ft. He could fit back in his dorm room now, and the student body was not so scared of him anymore. The military soon showed up at his door, and yelled at him for scaring them. He was informed that he was not allowed to retain a large form in populated areas, and had to stay small while in cities and such. Nick accepted those terms, and went to bed.

The next morning, Nick wondered what to do with himself now. He was the only one of his kind, and he was already getting board just going to school. Nick decided to go out into the world, and see what he could do. He left the campus that day, grew real big again, and flew off into the sunset. Ever since that day, the legend of the sky-serpent has not been a legend. Its been a widely known fact. Nick went around doing whatever he felt like, and enjoying every moment of it. He became widely liked, as he was always helping someone do something. One day though, he had the oddest urge to return to the island of his creation. When he returned there, he found another dragon waiting for him. She waved him over, and gave him a big hug. “Why hello there” the female said. “I did not know that there were any more of us around, why did you not come through the gate?” Nick pondered that question, “Gate? What gate?” The female explained that all the dragons went to the otherworld through the gate, and that nick should have as well. Nick explained that he was just transformed into this shape by the last of the druids, and was given no instructions. The female opened the gate, and bade nick to follow. Nick passed through the gate, and found himself in a world populated entirely by other dragons. Nick was so happy, he forgot about controlling his form, and rapidly shot up to his full height. The other dragons gasped, and fled as Nick shot up in height. Nick quickly noticed what he had done, and shrank himself back down again.

After proper introductions, and apologies for scaring everyone like that, Nick explained to all that he was the last dragon created. They all welcomed him to his new home, and asked him to refrain from becoming so large inside the town. Nick chuckled at this, and went off to find somewhere to live. The female that found him told him to move in with her, so Nick did. Nick soon found out why she wanted him to live with her. Lara as she was called, was horny, and unmated. Nick spent rest of eternity living with Lara, and adventuring around the universe. It was a good life, and Nick did not regret leaving his old one behind for one minute.

The sky-serpents again disappeared from earth. Never to return.
