Evolution
is a funny thing. While the likes of Rexar could emerge from dinosaur
ancestry on one side, so could their distant winged relatives on the
other. Some traits however can be found in both family lines, as Skyra
and his breed demonstrate. The bald eagle has long been one of Earth's
most admired predators. It is easy however for mankind to sit and
admire this creature's majestic predatory nature - there is a vast
animal population out there that spend most of their lives desperately
runnig away from it. Skyra rather enjoys this air of fear and dominance
which he exerts daily upon his prey; so much so that the thrill of
hunting becomes much more than just a search for food, but a means of
asserting his authority as the greatest aerial predator in the land. So
if you're nearby and happen to be just the right size for an eagle's
talons, one would be advised to always keep an eye on the sky.
Skyra
was in fact one of my earliest creations, yet very little has changed.
Emerging in around 2003, even the first pictures of Skyra involved the
usual taunting of mice or smaller birds, as one would expect from a
fiercesome bird of prey. The character's only individual distinction
from his breed are 2 rings on the innermost toes of his feet; a gold
one on his left foot, and a bronze one on the right - well, one might
say such majesty is deserving of wealthy decoration!
