Shading & Texturing Demonstration: "Hux Profile 2012"

This is a time-lapse video which demonstrates my technique for shading pictures in Corel PaintShop Photo Pro (X3) once they have been coloured (see Colour Preparation Tutorial for details on how my pictures are produced prior to shading). The clip is about 3½ minutes long and runs at about 64x of realtime speed - the actual process took around 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Four semi-transparent layers are used to build up the shading (two dark, two light), with tone applied using a mixture of the Paint Brush and Airbrush tools before being blended smoothly using the Smudge Brush.

The video also later shows how I can apply a custom texture to the subject from a photographic source by using a textured Airbrush in various scales and rotations. (This particular image was actually the first time I had ever attempted to apply elephant skin texturing.)

The example image used to illustrate this tutorial is Hux Profile 2012.
