Unlike some of his counterparts, evolution left Tydo behind.
Whilst possessing emotional sentience and intelligence, he remains within the feral form of his primitive ancestors. And despite his theropod heritage and carnivorous nature, he is a remarkably docile, harmless creature who is readily targeted and tortured by other animals. Indeed, it is little short of a miracle that this tiny raptor has survived at all - particularly given that some say he has never hunted anything in his life.
Yet life and death seem to be strangely fluid concepts for young Tydo. Many are the occasions he appears to have been utterly obliterated by his tormentors, yet given time, he is always seen again, present in full health without any indication of prior ill fate. Whether he possesses self-resurrecting capabilities or exists within a form outside of linear time is not known.
But sadly for Tydo, the consequences are the same either way. No matter how much abuse he receives, he will be returned, ripe for more - time and time again.
Introducing the original victim - Tydo (pronounced tee-doh) was the first regular submissive character to appear in my furry artwork, invariably as a favourite target for Rexar. Indeed, the two have become something of a popular double act over the years with a long history of encounters, many of which have ended badly for Tydo - yet owing to the flexible quality of fantasy, the little raptor is always fully restored in time for the next meeting.
Tydo first featured within my art in about 2003 as a very simple raptor-like design. With the exception of a few anatomical corrections - and the addition of his dark stripes in about 2006 - his physical appearance has remained largely unaltered over the years, as has my perception of his age. Having first imagined him during my adolescence, I have always considered Tydo to be more child-like, perhaps of an age where he is intelligent enough to understand the world around him, but too weak and innocent to protect himself from it.
Whilst Mike serves as my regular 'fursona', Tydo is often an alternative representation of my own personality and desired perspective in given fantasies, usually in scenarios where an exclusively reptilian cast is desired. He is also usually a substitute for Mike within the more brutal, hard-core scenarios in which I feel uncomfortable using my spaniel character.
