Even after many millions of years of evolution, the raging prehistoric spirit of the fearsome Tyrannosaurus rex lives on in Rexar - or 'Rex' to his friends.

It is said that there are two sides to Rexar, almost as if he possesses two distinct forms in alternate universes and time periods. In the first instance, he exists much as the fierce, primal beasts of his ancestry, often preferring to merely toy with his prey in a self-gratifying show of dominance, but capable when he so desires to be a savage killer. Such cruelty is frequently directed towards Tydo, a timid raptor of markedly inferior size whom the powerful Rex finds great joy in tormenting and harming.

Yet in the second instance, he becomes a gentle, caring creature blessed with great patience, handsome masculine form and a loving heart. Private about his sexuality, it is this form in which he exists with his secret boyfriend, Mike, the shy and submissive spaniel for whom Rex is a loyal source of security, support and great affection.

Only one thing is certain - whichever form and time he is present in, an encounter with Rexar is rarely forgotten.

Over the years, Rexar has gained a healthy following within the furry fandom and has become established as my signature character. He is also my personal favourite among my original creations, serving as the first regular artistic manifestation of my own personal furry (or scaly) fantasies.

First appearing on paper in 2002, his design was essentially based upon the very limited understanding of anthropomorphism and Tyrannosaur anatomy which I possessed at that time. Despite considerable advances in my drawing abilities over the years, not to mention various radical developments in his design - including a multitude of alternative skin colours, builds and even costume - he has largely retained the same distinctive, stylistic face which I originally gave him.

Rexar's relationship with Mike is a relatively recent development in the history of both characters, mainly because my early work of Rex had generally avoided overtly sexual content. But as time has passed, I have come to consider him a very attractive character in his own right - something which has resulted in bringing him together with my fursona in a special, private relationship.

Due to his prominence within my work, it is something of a common misconception among fans of my art that Rexar is my 'fursona' - a fantasy furry identity which represents myself. In fact, this is not true; my 'fursona' is actually Mike, Rexar's boyfriend. Indeed, Rex resembles my 'muse' or my ideal partner, an embodiment of various characteristics which I find particularly attractive in this form.

A further common misconception arises from his name, 'Rexar', given its similarity to my artistic alias of 'RipRoarRex' - the former refers exclusively to him as a character, whereas the latter serves merely as an identity for myself within the fandom.
